At the Annual Product Show on Wednesday, September 18, the ISPE Boston Area Chapter is excited to offer three tracks of three educational seminars each, selected from a total of 58 proposals submitted. What do these seminars all have in common? Innovation!
As many of the submissions touched upon, change is the only constant in the biopharmaceutical industry. With continuous pressure to keep striving for excellence in patient care, as well as continued cost pressure in the face of uncertainty, the entire value chain cries out for flexibility and innovation, from science, engineering, facilities and manufacturing to the increased use of digital technologies.
In fact, the selection committee had to change course mid-stream, replacing the Quality/Regulatory track with Digital Transformation, not only because of a dearth of submissions on the former but, more importantly, due to the plethora of innovative and leading-edge topics on Industry 4.0 / Pharma 4.0. As a result, this year’s seminars all have innovation as their common theme:
- Innovation in Digital Transformation
- Innovation in Facility Design
- Innovation in Flexible Manufacturing
Here are a few examples of the exciting innovation-related topics you’ll be learning about:
Digital Transformation from Instrument to Business Value: Industry 4.0 Implementation Strategies, Best Practices and Lessons Learned from a Fully Digital Clinical Manufacturing Deployment Project
Technology advances provide a vision for the future of biologic manufacturing but the difficulty of identifying a successful implementation strategy, as well as up-front costs, have proven prohibitive in delivering a fully digital shop floor. Additionally, right-sizing the architecture depends on the size, scale and objective of a given process. By defining and governing the vision, an integrated data strategy can unlock the promise of digital manufacturing to enable a paperless shop floor, quality review by exception, and real-time data analytics.
Navigating Growing Pains for Life Science Companies Experiencing Rapid Growth
Fast-growing pharmaceutical companies face a delicate balance between planning for expansion, uncertain capital availability and compliance risks. The purpose of this discussion is to review these challenges from the perspective of real estate needs, timing, implementing security, inventory protocols, new SOPs, and cGXP standards — all while addressing increasing performance/production demands. A moderator facilitates a discussion with a panel of pharmaceutical industry executives who have navigated these challenges and will draw on their experiences and lessons learned.
Addressing the Challenge of Innovation Adoption for Bio-manufacturing (BioInnovation Group)
Innovation and disruptive technology can transform the landscape for scientific discovery and manufacturing, allowing cures and treatments to reach patients faster and helping reduce costs to consumers. In a regulated industry, there are several challenges biopharma companies and technology companies must overcome in order to drive innovation. A blue-ribbon panel of industry senior executives will focus on how to de-risk innovative solutions, overcome industry challenges, foster innovation and increase the rate of technology adoption.
In addition to the seminars described above, there are six more that should suit the diverse needs and interests of the thousands of industry professionals from all over the US and beyond who will be attending another record-breaking Product Show on September 18. See you at Gillette!
