Join us to hear from Boston Dynamics and AstraZeneca sharing their perspectives on transformative robotics from both inside and outside of life sciences.
The adoption of new technologies and automation in the pharmaceutical industry is taking place at an ever-increasing rate. One of the main drivers for this is a cumulative capacity and resourcing challenge. As such, as a business we are looking to learn lessons from other industries and sectors who are more mature in their automation journey. In this presentation by Jeremy Springall we will discuss some of the challenges faced for implementation in the pharmaceutical industry as well as areas where we are looking to adopt new technologies and ways of working which might not have previously been considered for this type of innovation.
Spot is a cutting-edge robotics platform developed by Boston Dynamics, with a wide range of potential use cases in life sciences and other industries. In this session an overview will be provided of Boston Dynamics and their work, Spot and its capabilities and applications will be introduced, industry use cases will be discussed, and the session will conclude with a live demonstration of the Spot robot.
Speakers:
Jeremy Springall obtained his BSc and PhD from the University of Bath in Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry. After his academic studies he went on to work in analytical development at Patheon and UCB in the UK and Belgium prior to joining MedImmune/AstraZeneca in 2014 in Cambridge before moving to Maryland in 2017. Since moving to the US he has worked for AstraZeneca in analytical development as well as Global Technical Operations. Automation of laboratory activities has been a focus of his career since joining the industry.
Rich Lyons is the Technology Sales Manager for Boston Dynamics. Rich brings leadership and guidance to customers helping them leverage disruptive technologies like SPOT to accelerate innovation and improve business efficiencies.
Prior to joining Boston Dynamics, Rich has spent over 20 years in IT leadership roles focusing on engineering software and cloud cloud technologies. Today Rich works with global enterprises helping them improve productivity and efficiencies with next generation robotic technology.
Rich holds a B.S. degree from The University of Massachusetts and an MBA from Bentley University.
Brad Bonn joined the Boston Dynamics team following more than 20 years of working with technologies ranging from software and cloud infrastructure to the core backbone of the Internet. His near-obsession with all things nuclear has been with him since childhood, so naturally, his first project with Spot was to equip it with a Geiger counter. He now operates the pre-sales engineering branch of Boston Dynamics and works with customers and partners to ensure success with their utilization of Spot.
