Education Program 4: Industry Standards, Strategies, Tools for the Future of Pharma 4.0 – Single Use

Presentation Title: ASME BPE 2022: Embracing the future of Pharma 4.0 and Single Use Standardization for Equipment and Process Design.

The 2022 edition was a landmark for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Bioprocessing Equipment division (ASME BPE), marking the official integration of Single Use technology. As the only internationally recognized and adopted Standard, the ASME BPE governs the “what, where, why, and how” of modern facility and equipment design. This presentation covers the ASME BPE, who uses it, why it was created and how it evolved, and significant changes from the 2019 edition.


  • Andrew Lamore – Pharmaceutical Industry Sales Manager, USA – Bürkert Fluid Control Systems

Andrew Lamore is the US National Pharmaceutical Industry Manager for Bürkert Fluid Control Systems, a leading manufacturer of industrial measurement and control technologies for fluids and gases. Mr. Lamore has over 20 years of experience in industrial automation and automation engineering. Mr. Lamore has been a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Bioprocess Equipment (ASME BPE) Standards Committee for over a decade. He currently serves as the chairperson of the ASME BPE Multiuse Process Instrumentation and Single Use Process Instrumentation subcommittees. Additionally, he is a member of the Executive and Standards committees. Mr. Lamore holds a degree in Computer Networks Technology from RCC College of Technology in Toronto, Ontario, and is currently in Bellevue University’s Business Leadership and Management program. Internationally published by Pharmaceutical Engineering as part of a team of industry experts in 2021, he has been a proud and active ISPE and MBAA member since 2010. Mr. Lamore is passionate about educational roles in these trade associations and Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College to promote safety, technological advancement, and innovation in both the pharmaceutical and craft brewing industries.
